This paper on the basis of American, British and French sources analyzes the contradictions between the Great Powers in the East during the post-war settlement of 1918-1923. It emphasizes on struggle of the Great Britain, France, the USA, Greece, the Sultan`s government and the Kemalist movement as well as White Russian émigrés to define the status of Constantinople and the regime of the Black Sea Straits.
