Анотація. Лідерські позиції Данії в соціально-економічній сфері, освіті, науці, розвитку громадянського суспільства і демократичних традицій, університетської автономії та соціальної відповідальності університетів актуалізує вивчення національної специфіки данської моделі університетської освіти. Досвід модернізаційних заходів Данії в галузі вищої освіти на рубежі ХХ-ХХІ століть становить науковий інтерес з історичної, політичної та освітянської точок зору.

Метою статті є висвітлення теоретичного дискурсу та аналіз основних етапів і змісту модернізаційних заходів в системі університетської освіти Данії як складової європейського простору вищої освіти.

Методологія дослідження ґрунтується на міждисциплінарному підході, принципах історичності, системності, детермінізму, об’єктивності, гуманізму, розвитку та використанні історико-генетичного та системно-аналітичного методів.

Наукова новизна полягає у висвітленні наукового дискурсу в зарубіжній історіографії щодо впливу на данську систему вищої освіти глобальних тенденцій у вищій освіті. Автор вказує на соціально-економічні та політичні детермінанти модернізаційних заходів в системі вищої освіти Данії наприкінці ХХ – у ХХІ столітті, акцентуючи увагу на інституційному реформуванні університетської освіти в контексті входження до європейського освітнього простору. Вказується, що протягом 1990-х рр. було створено сучасну структуру університетської освіти Данії завдяки реформаційним заходам, які мали на меті коригування існуючої данської структури вищої освіти та створення конкуренції між вищими навчальними закладами за студентів. На початку ХХІ століття Данія запровадила одну із найамбітніших і далекосяжних університетських реформ: трансформацію університетської спільноти від статусу державних службовців до найманих працівників автономних самоврядних інституцій. Наголошується, що найважливіші реформи 2000-х рр., пов’язані з управлінням університетами, мали як свої переваги, так і невикористані резерви, проблеми і виклики. Результатом реформування вищої освіти на початку ХХІ століття було створення університетів як суб’єктів власності з контрактними відносинами з центральною адміністрацією.  Автор виокремлює реформи у системі вищої освіти Данії, пов’язані з широким впровадженням ІКТ, якому було надано політичної, економічної й стратегічної важливості.

Висновки. Автор резюмує, що низка реформаційних заходів в системі вищої освіти  в контексті входження Данії до європейського простору вищої освіти є результатом науково-обгрунтованої державної стратегії, спрямованої на забезпечення конкурентоспроможності данської системи освіти. Вдале поєднання тривалого державного управління і регулювання з наданням університетській спільноті права на саморганізацію  та самоврядування дали поштовх громадській ініціативі, підприємництву, інноваціям, науковим пошукам та соціальній відповідальності університетів.
